Retrospect 7.6 and earlier does not support Windows 7.

Retrospect 7.6 and earlier is not able to successfully back up and restore an entire Windows 7 OS locally or as a client. Retrospect 8 for Mac is also not able to successfully back up and restore an entire Windows 7 client. Individual data files backed up with Retrospect can be restored. However, restoring an entire Windows 7 computer with Retrospect will leave the computer in a non-bootable state.

The following Retrospect configurations are unsupported:

Retrospect 7.6 and earlier for Windows running on Windows 7

Retrospect 7.6 and earlier for Windows backing up a Windows 7 client

Retrospect 8 and earlier for Mac backing up a Windows 7 client
