Article Summary

Top Articles

Retrospect requires SQL-DMO components that are not automatically installed with SQL 2008 and later. Without the required Microsoft configuration, Retrospect will report authentication failures when trying to license the databases under Configure>volumes.

To fix the problem, users need to download and install the "Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Backward Compatibility Components" package to the Server running SQL Server 2008 and later.

Installation Instructions

Contact Support for a download link for the x86 installer or the x64 installer, depending on your configuration.

Install the Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Backward Compatibility Components.

Open Retrospect and go to Configure>Volumes. Right click on your SQL server and select License to apply your SQL license and authenticate to the server.
