For 30 years, Retrospect Backup has protected SMB environments with support for a wide range of operating systems and versions: from OS X 10.6 to macOS 10.13 High Sierra to Windows XP to Windows Server 2016 to CentOS 7 as well as VMware and Hyper-V environments. Your business deserves a backup solution that will be there when you need it.

Pick the right tool to protect your business.

5 Reasons to Migrate

  1. EOL: CrashPlan Home

Code42 will no longer support CrashPlan Home. (See announcement.) Customers must either upgrade to the more expensive CrashPlan for Business or switch away from Code42. Every small business needs an affordable, easy-to-maintain business backup.

  2. EOL: Windows Server Support

Code42 no longer supports Windows Server for Code42 Enterprise. (See announcement.) While you may be able to continue to run their client on Windows Server, it is not tested or supported by them. You do not want to juggle multiple backup products just to cover every computer. The best business backup solution covers your entire environment, including servers and endpoints.

  3. EOL: Code42 Server on Mac

Code42 no longer supports their server application running on Mac systems. (See announcement.) Customers must switch to Windows or Linux to maintain their CrashPlan backup environment. If your business runs on Mac, you should not need to buy a Linux machine to back up your Mac environment. Your business backup solution should support Mac.

  4. EOL: Mac OS X 10.9 / OS X 10.10 Support

Code42 will no longer support Mac OS X 10.9 and OS X 10.10 systems for backup. (See announcement.) Customers are required to upgrade to macOS 10.11 or higher to continue to use CrashPlan. Legacy software running on an older OS is a fact of life, and your business backup shouldn’t force the transition.

  5. 6x More Affordable

CrashPlan for Small Business costs $120 per device per year, and Code42 Enterprise costs $60 per user per year, excluding cloud storage. Over three years for 100 devices, CrashPlan for Small Business would cost $36,000. Retrospect Multi-Server protects as many devices as the server and storage can handle–all for $6,000 with a perpetual license and two years of annual support and maintenance.

Bottom Line

You need a business backup solution that does not continually end-of-life your backup environment. For 30 years, Retrospect has protected SMB environments with support for a wide range of operating systems and versions: from OS X 10.6 to macOS 10.13 High Sierra to Windows XP to Windows Server 2016 to CentOS 7 as well as VMware and Hyper-V environments. Your business deserves a backup solution that will be there when you need it.
