If you are attempting to connect to an ESXi host while creating a backup set and are met with the above error, do the following:
Log into your ESXi server’s embedded host client using the IP address or domain name
Select Manage on the left navigation bar
Select the Services tab at the top
Select TSM-SSH and select Start
You should be able to create your backup set now.
