Details

Our Engineering team has worked hard to continue supporting old versions of Apple Mac OS X. Every version of Retrospect for Mac through Retrospect 15.6 has supported both the 6.3 client for Mac OS X 10.3 (available in 2003) and Mac OS X 10.4 (available in 2004) protection and the 9.0 client for Mac OS X 10.5 (available in 2006) protection.

With APFS, Apple has moved its file system calls from 32-bit data structures to 64-bit data structures. Our Engineering team has determined that switching Retrospect to using 64-bit data structures only, we can continue to protect Mac OS X versions as earlier as 10.6 while using the latest APIs from Apple. Now that the transition to 64-bit macOS file system data structures is complete, Retrospect can no longer support 10.3, 10.4, and 10.5 with the Retrospect 6.3 Client and Retrospect 9.0 Client.
