Retrospect Console is the next-generation Retrospect user interface for Windows and Mac. This preview edition allows you to easily create a comprehensive backup strategy with a couple clicks and shows you a dashboard view of your backups.

We plan to steadily build Retrospect Console into a replacement for the current user interface for Windows and Mac. Please send any feedback you have to support@retrospect.com.

System Requirements

Retrospect Console has the following system requirements:

Windows

  • Retrospect 16.6 running

  • Windows 10, Windows Server 2016 or higher

Mac

  • Retrospect 16.6 running

  • macOS Sierra 10.12 or higher

Languages

Retrospect Console supports the languages that Retrospect Backup supports: English, German, Spanish, French, Italian, and Japanese.


Setup for Windows

Setup is simple. Please follow this step-by-step guide.

  1. Install Retrospect Backup 16.6 for Windows.

  2. Launch Retrospect Backup 16.6 for Windows.

  3. Download Retrospect Console Preview.

  4. Install Retrospect Console.

  5. Launch Retrospect Console under "Retrospect Console".

  6. If Retrospect Backup is not running or it’s an older version, you will see a welcome screen.

  7. Once Retrospect Backup is running, Retrospect Console will advance to choosing your backup sources under "Set up your backup". Select the sources you would like to protect and then select "Choose Destinations".

  8. Under "Choose your backup destination", we will set up your backup set. On first launch, you won’t have any backup sets to select. We will walk through creating one.

  9. First, you need to create the backup set. Select the destination volume that you would like to set as a destination, and Retrospect Console will create a backup set on it.

  10. Now that you have a backup set, select it and select "Finish".

  11. The next screen is the dashboard. It shows the status of your backup environment. The backups will just be starting up. The "Backup Report" view shows the status of your backup sources. They are gray when they are not yet backed up.

  12. Once a backup finishes, you will see the backup source turn green.

  13. To track the status of your backups at a glance, there is a system tray app for quick access.


Setup for Mac

Setup is simple. Please follow this step-by-step guide.

  1. Install Retrospect Backup 16.6 for Mac.

  2. Launch Retrospect Backup 16.6 for Mac.

  3. Download Retrospect Console Preview.

  4. Install Retrospect Console by double-clicking on the DMG and dragging the "Retrospect Console" application into "Applications".

  5. If Retrospect Backup is not running or it’s an older version, you will see a welcome screen.

  6. Once Retrospect Backup is running, Retrospect Console will advance to choosing your backup sources under "Set up your backup". Select the sources you would like to protect and then select "Choose Destinations".

Dashboard

Retrospect Console is built on the same dashboard as Retrospect Management Console but focuses on the Backup Report to help users quickly understand if their computers are protected.
