Retrospect Virtual: How to Stop a Stuck Backup


If you have a backup that is stuck in your Retrospect Virtual Host Server and you are unable to stop or remove it from the console, please try the following:

  1. On your Windows server, go to C:\Users\(your username)\.obm\ipc\BackupSet\(backupsetID).

    Note: If you don’t know the backupset ID, you can also sort this folder by date modified and it should be one of the most recent folders.

  2. In this folder, delete the file called "running".

  3. Open up the Windows services console (services.msc) and restart the service “Retrospect Virtual Host Server Services”.

The stuck backup should be clear now.
